April of 2003, I lost my sister, Robin to cancer. Later when a church friend was diagnosed with breast cancer I made a small quilt with spiritual and inspiring messages. When I realized I was suffering from depression I decided to make a "comfort" quilt for myself. Since 2008 with the support of friends 20 quilts have been made and distributed to women suffering from breast cancer, bone cancer, heart disease, lukemia, knee surgery, bipolar disorder, stroke, poor mobility and social isolation. I find that as I help create tangible evidence of love and support, my spirits are lifted and I feel joy. Members can participate in a variety of ways, such as simple sewing, simple ironing, writing messages of comfort and inspiration, and or monetary support. We meet the third Tuesday of each month, but if that is inconvienient there are ways to participate at your own home. I welcome you to join me and my friends on this journey.
